Development staff within nonprofit organizations  play a central role in their organization’s growth, sustainability and ability to achieve impact.

But because fundraising frequently requires building and managing relationships with high net worth individuals and board members (who are predominantly white), professionals of color in fundraising often find their ability to do the job being questioned – and encounter microaggressions, tokenism, and other biases. 

Not only do these conditions hinder the ability of people of color to deliver the resources their organizations desperately need, they also hinder their professional advancement and job satisfaction.
